Whether you follow a Keto, Bulletproof, Paleo, Vegan or Flexitarian diet, the benefits of eating good fats are undeniable and the inspiration for our Coconut Fat Bombs recipe!
In addition to providing sustained energy and curbing cravings, good dietary fats also keep your metabolism strong, are necessary to regulate and synthesize hormones for peak performance, and are anti-inflammatory. Essential vitamins such as A, D, E and K are not water soluble but require good dietary fat to be absorbed by the body. These vitamins and healthy Omegas are crucial for brain health and many of our vital organs.
A big reason to DIY protein & energy bars?... so they are customizable and actually healthy!
Pre-made bars in wrappers are too heavy in omega-6 oils from cheap fats and overuse of otherwise healthy nut butters. But our no-bake Protein Bar Mixes have a superior 1:1 Omega3 ratio. Plus, you can make them with Water and Avocado, Ghee Butter or Coconut Oil... fats nutrition experts like Dr. Axe, Chris Kresser and Dr. Mark Hyman recommend:
"Over-consuming omega-6 fats increases numerous health issues. I embrace coconut oil, ghee and even some grass-fed butter as part of my diet. Ghee and butter are also high in vitamins D and A, omega-3 fats, and butyric acid, which can boost immunity and help inflammation..." ~ Mark Hyman, MD
One of my favorite quotes about self care and the importance of health is also from Dr. Mark Hyman and his book Eat Fat Get Thin...
Anytime I feel stressed and fail to adequately take care of myself, I always stop and remember why... Why is my health important? My health is important because I can't show up as the best version of myself and go after my goals if I feel sick, unhealthy, unbalanced, or stressed. ~ Mark Hyman, MD
So please be good to yo self and get your good fats fix by whipping up some of these divine COCONUT FAT BOMBS - Makes 20 with 5g protein + 7g good fats per ball!
- Protein Bar Mix Whey Hip Chocolate Chip (Grain Free, Paleo-Friendly, Keto Certified)
- 1/2 cup Coconut Butter or Ghee
- 1/2 cup Liquid (water, milk, juice, mashed banana)
DIRECTIONS: Mix together with a fork; and roll into bite-sized balls. (Balls will firm more if you chill them in the fridge or freezer for 20 minutes.) That's it!
(If you love chocolate, try this same "Sweetless" recipe with our Cocoa for Coconuts Energy Bite Mix which is gluten-free, Paleo, Vegan, and Keto Certified)
These taste sooo decadent but you won't have an ounce of guilt. Coconut doesn't store as fat since your body uses it as ATP (instant cellular energy). Take them on the go to curb cravings, and store the extras chilled in an airtight container for later.
Cheers to self-care and fat coconut protein balls! 😃
